Bundt Cake - Sept 1, 2009

Chocolate Zucchini Bundt Cake

I have wanted a bundt pan for quite awhile now. Not just any bundt pan, mind you, a Minnesota-made, Nordic Ware Bundt pan. I mean, you've gotta go for the original, the trademarked, the local pan, right? So, imagine my giddiness upon finding just that very thing at the thrift store this week.

The Real Deal

Not only is it Nordic Ware, but it's the 'Fiesta Party Pan.' And, it's yellow!

I had always thought the bundt cake was invented in Minnesota, but that's not exactly true. Turns out the bundt (which my computer insists I'm misspelling) pan was trademarked in Minnesota in 1950. It's a fascinating story involving a Scandinavian bake ware company, a Jewish women's society, and a local flour producing giant. You can check out the details right here.

Mmm...and the cake turned out perfectly. The recipe can be found right here, via Natalie.

Yum!
